Whiplash
Whiplash is often a serious and painful injury to the cervical spine, upper thoracic spine and the supporting soft tissues of these areas. This injury is a result of a motorvehicle accident when the force of the accident causes the patient's head to be thrown at a force which exceeds the soft tissue's ability to control the head. This causes sprains/strains to the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons) in the cervical and upper thoracic region.
Sprain/strains
